Muscoda Utilities maintains an electric distribution system that services around 1,000 customers in the Village of Muscoda and the Townships of Muscoda and Eagle. The purpose of this distribution system is "step down" the 69,000 volt power that is delivered to our substations via cross-state transmission lines from our power supplier, providing electricity to your home or business at the appropriate safe voltage.
Meter Reading & Billing
Our employees walk to each and every meter to ‘read the meter’. They are out rain or shine to provide you with this valuable service. Obtaining actual meter reads means your bill is based on your actual consumption. Keeping the path to and area around your meters clear of obstructions such as vegetation, snow, ice, toys, tools, bikes etc, not only provides better access to read your meter but it is critical in case of an emergency.
The readings are keyed into the billing software to produce your monthly billing statement.
In the event, your meter is not able to be read, we provide you with an estimated billing statement. That estimate is based on your normal usage history for that time of year. Any difference between the amount actually used and the estimated amount billed is corrected automatically when the next regular meter reading is obtained. Ultimately, you pay only for the amount of energy actually used.
Please have your pets secure (away from the meters) during meter reading time which can range from the 25th - 31st of each month.
