HYDRANT FLUSHING

The Village of Muscoda Street Department will begin flushing hydrants on Tuesday, July 15 through Thursday, July 17.  During the flushing process, you may experience temporary water discoloration or pressure drop.  This is a normal and expected occurrence.  If you notice any discoloration in your water, we recommend turning on the faucet and letting it run for a few minutes until the water is clear.  As always, any questions or concerns related to the hydrant flushing process, please feel free to contact the office at 739.3182.

Diggers Hotline

Anytime you are digging in the ground, you should give Diggers Hotline a call 1-800-242-8511 or (811) to determine if there is anything underground that you should be looking out for.

  • You should call a minimum of 3 days in advance of starting to dig in order to allow time for everything to be located
  • You MUST maintain a minimum of 18” of clearance (to the left & right) of all marked utilities. If you have to dig in that area, you must dig by hand. This does not mean using a post hole digger. This means cautiously and carefully digging with a shovel.
  • You should also be aware of the surrounding area that you are digging in.  Is there a light pole nearby, but no electric lines marked? Then don’t dig! That power has to come from somewhere!

Did you also know that you can be fined up to $500.00 or thrown in jail for removing/moving/destroying locates? If you see flags or markings on the ground, make sure you leave them there. They could save somebody’s life!
